We found out in July 2016 that Ofqual has decided that City and Guilds should no longer offer the City and Guilds courses we teach at Creative Stitch Suffolk [and across the UK]. We will not be able to register students after June 2017.

so......................... we as a centre have organised our own courses to start from Sept 2017. These are two year courses and then students can proceed to the Advanced course.
The courses are;
Creative Patchwork and Quilting
Creative Stitched Textiles [to incorporate machine embroidery and hand embroidery]
Advanced Creative Stitched Textiles

We have been showing current and past C&G students the course outlines, who are quite excited by these new courses and some are wanting to book on the courses already. We, as with our C&G courses, can offer these as Distance Learning courses.

We are offering these courses in conjunction with the WI and supported by SEFWI.

I was previously asked to contribute a piece about myself when the site first started, and was included in "Quilt Creators: 5 Contemporary Quilt Artists" - I feel quite honoured as not many quilt artists have been included on this site!
And so I have decided to retire from some of my textile work, I have been traveling, and teaching for the last 20yrs or so! Last summer I decided it would be the last time I demonstrate or teach at the Festival of Quilts [which I helped to found]. A few months later, after making my decision, we found out we would be grandparents for the first time - so it was meant to be! Our grandson Luke is now 8 weeks old and growing fast. I give my last talk about my own work in July, but I will be giving a lecture at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham in August on quilt judging [on which course I will remain the senior tutor].

I will still be involved in teaching some C&G courses [see www.creativestitchsuffolk.co.uk ] and a few selected weekends here and there, but will not be taking bookings for groups. My website will be scaled down, but I will still post here on my blog, and on Instagram - see fadedredhead1.

I am planning to do more of my own work, and will be exhibiting with the two textile groups to which I belong, Anglia Textile Works [our next exhibition is at Minerva Gallery in Wales titled Setinels] and with Tin Hut Textiles [next exhibition is at Snape Maltings in Suffolk called Ebb and Flow]. I will also be making small things to sell and plan to show these on Folksy - items are being made at the moment from some of my old quilts.

Below is one of the pieces I have made for ATW's exhibition at Minerva it is called Old Sentinels -" Who Came Back ? Grandmother said a phantom." It is based on a poem by my husbands's brother Steve Morgan about their grandfather Stan, who fought in the First World War.
One of my students got a judges choice - that means that her quilt was chosen by that judge from all the comparative categories. We [Creative Stitch Suffolk] had two students whose work was selected for the C&G Gallery and Mary [ the tutor who works with me] and a student had work selected for the CQ Gallery, which was juried.
The fabrics are either screen printed, using thermofax screens made from my own photographs of birch bark and flint walls. There is also some break down printing - the large white area, and the sticks are discharge printed.
Thrilled to bits!
A picture of a piece which will be part of an exhibition at Wymondham Arts Centre in Norfolk, from 19th May - 24th May 2015.
The Exhibition is called "Across the Border" and will contain paintings by my husband Dan Morgan and an embroiderer Kingsley Thompson. Across the border alludes to the fact that Dan and I have lived in both Suffolk and Norfolk and Kingsley lives in Suffolk.
It has clear instructions and lots of lovely photos of art quilts including two of mine!
Linda will be at the Festival of Quilts with her book and some quilts, so do visit her stand if you want a signed copy!
Many of the techniques in the book are those that I teach to my C&G Diploma students - so it will be a book I recommend to them.

For details of the above courses and to book go to www.anglialeisurelearning.co.uk

This is the exhibition space I had at the Festival of Quilts 2013 where I launched my new book.
Dan's prints were a great addition to the exhibition and he sold lots of pictures! Louise our daughter was a great saleswoman - a real family affair!
The exhibition was very well received and we have been asked to take it to two other venues besides Wymondham in October [see dates below].
We also have exhibition space in Bury St Edmunds next year - so loads of work to do!!
Thanks for dropping by at FoQ - it was lovely to see old friends and make new ones!
Primarily published to accompany my solo show at the Festival of Quilts next week at the NEC in Birmingham, it features all the quilts that will be on display at the show, and much, much more!
The book shows how you can work through a theme, the processes and techniques that I use, which I hope will inspire you in your own work!
My husband who trained as a painter also has some of his work in my book.

You can obtain the book from me for £12 plus £2 P&P and shortly it will be available from my website. Just email Annette@annettemorgan.co.uk for a copy

If you miss the show in Birmingham the exhibition will also be shown at the Arts Centre in Wymondham, Norfolk [Becket's Chapel, 2 Church Street, NR!80PH] from 2nd - 27th October, and myself and my husband will be artists in residence on the 26th & 27th.
It is based on the nartural forms to be found in the areas where I live - flint and Thetford forest.
From Saturday 28th June to Thursday 2nd August 2012 my work will be part of an exhibition at the Edmund Gallery in Bury St Edmunds [next to the Cathedral] with Yvonne Brown, and independedtly we have been working on themes from the area where we both live, which are contained in a larger area known as the Brecklands.
